Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
I was kinda thinking the same thing. Time to start shopping. I would like to do the controller at the same time. I just need to sway the head of finance.

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
Thanks.
I ordered a new wire set, 4ga, for the 6-8V, and a hold down and rods. I hope they are going to be long enough, but will figure it out. I will know tonight if the batteries are bad. I found a US battery distributor to get the new ones. I believe they compair to the trojan T890. Can't spend the money on the Alltrax just yet, had to put a new transfer case in my Silverado, ouch. |

I think I saved my batteries for now, at least the meter shows full charge. I didn't check the voltage, but so far so good.
Looks like I may be able to squeek the Alltrax and batteries next spring, if the batteries last this season. |

May not want to rely on the meter. Hydrometer is best check and resting digital volt meter voltage on each battery is next best. DVM is great tool to monitor the batteries when using the cart.

Load testing is the true test. Sulphated batteries can read just about full voltage and still not be able to deliver any significant power to the motor.

4X12 usually has fewer Amp Hours so you get less range. 6X8 gives you more Amp Hours - and weight.

All these flooded lead acid batteries are made up of however many 2 volt cells it takes to get to the battery voltage. In an eight volt, this is 4 cells, in a twelve volt, it's 6 cells.
To get 6 cells inside a 12v of the same case as a a 4 cell 8 volt, they have to make the cells smaller. Doing so makes the plates smaller, there by reducing the amp hour capacity of the 12v battery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk |

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
In my case I don't need to test them. I know they are on they're way out, just trying to buy some time. Would love to replace my controller at the same time, so I need the money tree to grow a bit more.
