Studs,Studs, Studs, I just realized how many items are going to be stud mounted on my Omega : Side cover, Cylinder head, Valve cover, Intake manifold, carb and air cleaner, Carb bell crank, Exhaust header, and Cooling shroud. BUT the advantage is that if you have to remove a part you do not weaken the the threads in the aluminum block or cylinder head. Like the top fuel racers that tear the engine down between rounds where the engine is torn down and inspected.

This is where I get all my metric studs and nuts. I use there black oxide studs - nuts and washers. They stand out and look cool.

Mine are from all over the place. The exhaust and intake are VC items, the front cover is the NR kit, the cylinder head Summit racing, and the valve cover and cooling shroud are E-Bay sourced.

I took advantage of NRracing's 10% off Black Friday Sale to restock on some parts used in my Omega build.

I didn't take NR's advice on shipping about not using USPS and my order took over a month to arrive. Anyway this morning I took out my head gasket assortment. I miked up each to measure the uncompressed thickness. Starting at the left is a VC supplied multi layer steel unit measuring .045" , next to it is the NR supplied red printoseal @ .045" and last is VC supplied yellow printoseal @ .055". The long rod 460 I am presently running has the yellow printoseal for years without issue along with my .075" milled head. For the Omega that also has zero deck height like the present long rod my plan is to use the red printoseal unit due to the additional valve unshrouding during the Omega build and the shorter 64 mm crank that it has. P.S. These are all 92 mm bore sized gaskets.

I see VC is sold out of their 10 bolt bare blocks. Making it harder to build a from scratch 460, BUT I see Paulskarts still has his 92 mm 10 bolt super HD block for $210.

I decided today that the Omega should use the Vegascarts "dog bones" to mount it to the engine plate. I figured better get them while they are still being sold.

The not for Izzy "dog bones" arrived today. They fit like the bolt to a rifle in the VC 460 block. Typical Vegascarts machine work.

I see Bullfrog motorsports is having a garage sale. Anyone looking for one of their 4.650" super connecting rods they are in stock and on sale for $149. Maybe last chance ever to get one ?
