Both of those plugs look lie they are sticking to far into the cylinder, and burning the threads off.

The BPR4ES is the correct plug for the motor. The plug he has (at least the one on the left) is the same length. No idea what the one on the right is.

I'm not saying its guaranteed the plugs are even the issue, but if it were mine that's where I would start. It's not the right plug called.for, and for the $5 for 2 new BPR4ES plugs, its cheap and certainly worth ruling out since I have absolutely no idea the proper application of the other plugs, not what specifically the differences are other than the threads not going all the way to the end.

I have the same issue with my 350 non mci engine. I’m at at my wits end. Once it starts it will run great then when I stop looking it acts up again. Looking forward to watching this thread

Both plugs are stamped the same so maybe one was defective haven't had the opportunity to get the right ones installed yet also compared to an old bpr4es thread length is the same

I’m having this exact same issue, I know this thread is a few years old but hoping for some insight.

Cory_W,

First, I need to know if yours is an MCI or pre MCI. (Aluminum exhaust manifold or cast iron.)

Run the engine without the air filter for a short time and see if it makes a difference. If it does, come back once you have fitted a new filter and hopefully that will help. If not, we can go back to the diagnosis.

Awesome thank you for the assistance. Cast-iron so I’m guessing preMCI. It’s an 02.

I’ve changed the spark plugs, air filter, oil change and new fuel pump. Nothing changed. I also took the carburetor off clean that up real good, but I wasn’t able to get that center jet out but I sprayed through all the ports and seem to get good flow.

I also just ordered one of those compression tools but I’m not really sure what I’m looking for or how to do it so I guess YouTube is going to come in handy.
