Default 1992 ezgo marathon

Hello yall, first post here and hopefully get some sound advice. I have done a lot of research and found a lot of info on this forum but looking for a little bit more tailored to me answer. Im new to electric carts, had a Yamaha gas cart before. So, in a nutshell I have a 1992 marathon 36 volt series I believe. Got the cart for free with bad batteries dont know about the other components yet. Before I buy new batteries would it be worth going to 48 volt? I only use the kart 10 times a year on long weeken trips to campgrounds. Lifted with 22x10 tires eventually, me 260 pounds, wife 130 and 3 kids probably 250 combined. Not looking to run 35mph but faster than stock preferably. But when I hit the pedal I want it to go and not worry about hills. Ride times are just for 20 30 minites at a time so lasting days is not a requirement. Wjat upgrades would yall do for the best money. Keep in mind the cart was free.

considering what you described as to how you intend to use the cart.....you DEFFINATLY want to upgrade the drive system to 48v. if you don't, you will be highly disappointed.

And to upgrade I need to look up my controller solenoid and motor to make sure they will handle the voltage correct? Or am I looking at replacing all of that?

You'll need to replace the controller, solenoid and charger as well as the batteries, to go to 48V.

If you are going to buy batteries & a charger, you may want to look at Lithium drop in's that include charger for about the same money. I don't think you will find anyone that has gone with lithium that doesn't regret not doing it earlier.

I dug into lithium and looks like I would spend well over 1500. The cheapest I could get away with is Nissan leaf batteries from a friend who works on material moving equipment and forklift type things. Now for stupid questions.. are all motors the same bolt pattern? Cuz if I'm spending that much money to go to 48 im going to go with one of the kits to go ac. But don't see a kit specifically stating for the ezgo marathon but for the txt. If it involves changing motor controler wiring the whole 9 wouldn't any ac conversion kit work as long as the motor fit?
