Default G29 will not move

I had to tow my friend 2008 g29 home last night. It's will not move it makes a grinding noise. I put it in tow before towing it he said the brakes will not work. I'm thinking a gear let go in rear end. I'm thinking of draining oil 1st. It's a lifted cart. Or a motor is gone. He drives it with a lot of people on it. It's a 4 seater.

Sounds like you stripped a spline or gear somewhere. If the gearbox has a white barcode sticker on it it could have a factory defective gear in it. Some made it into early 2008 carts. Hopefully you have a green or yellow sticker. In any case you're looking at a big teardown. Hopefully it's a motor coupler, which is the first thing to check by removing the motor first.

The brakes engage directly with the ring gear carrier. Therefore, no gears between there and the motor will cause "no brakes". The path from the brakes to the wheel is as follows, brake discs & reaction plates-> ring gear carrier-> spider gears-> axle shaft-> hub-> wheel/tire. Im thinking a spun hub is your most likely problem.

I jacked it up and checked hubs there were good. I ran it on jack stands the wheels will spin I can stop it with my foot on booth wheels. The e brake worked. I didn't check oil. How had is it to pull motor to coupling. I'm thinking main gear. Looks like a big job. Is there a shop book to take it apart or how much for a yamaha deal will charge for the job
