Default Polaris Piston 1986 ezgo 2pg

Question- have tried to search without success. Can I use the less expensive Polaris 244cc piston (once I machine the intake port into it) in my 244cc 2pg??.

Thanks - Polaris has the same specifications - just was hoping someone has already done this and not some thing I will overlook? Bob

Received my Polaris piston - Mics out very good - will be a very good fit after honing -used my Bridgeport was able to get within .0005 on taper and round. When I machine in the port should it be exactly the same or maybe a few thousands lower or higher??? Bob

I think you are going to be the cutting edge pioneer on this. If somebody else decides to do this they are going to be looking to you for answers.

This section of the forum is basically the, "My stock cart won't run, how do I fix it" forum.

You would probably get more answers here. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/big-block-talk/

Those guys are the modifiers, and experimenters.

Could you share the part number of that piston? Do you happen to have the connecting rod part number for that piston or the model of the Polaris engine it came out of?

Polaris 3084316 .020 over--- 3083023 .040 over KHC Taiwan piston. Not sure on rod -1983 Polaris 250 Gemini think any Polaris 250 would be similar. Piston, rings, pin were$34.99. Will post results.

Polaris piston worked great(thicker rings a little heavier overall) 150psi with .040 shaved cylinder. Installed HEI assembly from 1998 chevy - has a built in heat sink - with the bolt in module from 1985 as per sticky. Like the fit easy to bolt in where old coil was. Not sure on top speed waiting for new BV18 and BV24 to try.

Did you change the piston port timing when you milled it out?

Matched original - found little information on how to modify - would guess 1 or 2 mm lower would help.
