Default steering shaft diameter and spline count

Anyone on here know the steering shaft diameter and spline count on a 2001.5 to 2008.5 TXT? I am needing this info to plan out my lift kit swap out. I wonder if the steering shaft is the same length and diameter on the 3 bolt and the 4 bolt column, if so, I can swap out shafts and re-use my 3 bolt column, and if they are not, then I may be able to modify the end of my current shaft with a splined adapter from a speed shop. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Robert

I believe the steering shaft is the same from 96 up.

The end of the shaft that connects to the steering "box" on the 2001.5 and older is not splined, whereas the 2001.5 and newer have splines. are you saying that all other aspects are the same? If so, that would greatly reduce my fabricating.

I was just looking at part numbers. I have a 99 and a 08 that I will check out in the morning when it is daylight and let you know what I find.

Well I crawled up under the carts and cannot see squat on the pre 2001. I think the shafts are the same length but from what you have found probably different at the frame end. You might could put a 01 and newer steering shaft in the older column so you would have splines at the frame side.
