2007 ST350 2+2 slow to start
On the in laws land this weekend, and besides me needing to put some coil overs on to help the rough ride, it seemed to lose power.
After bit of driving it started having trouble going from a stop. Very slow to start up and move. Prior to that it was fine, just slow to go up hills, but would stay a consistent speed. Any ideas? Belt is new. |

Re: 2007 ST350 2+2 slow to start
I should add, these weren’t hills, just slight inclines
I really noticed it having trouble starting when it was full, 5 ppl riding, and going up the incline (off road) and was struggling, but stayed constant. After that is when I realized it was struggling to start when pressing the gas. After it sat for an hour or so, it was normal again. |

I’ve never replaced the starter belt, only the drive belt is new.
I also looked at the brushes on the starter this morning, seem pretty worn. Pic attached. |

More follow up
The drive belt has always squeaked when either lightly pressing the gas or when pinned up against something and trying to drive over it. It appears to slip at the clutch (see pic), any idea why, 28 degree clutch with a new, shorter drive belt. Second pic is showing the pedal in full throttle, so you can see the clutch does engage. Really wish I could get this drivetrain stuff sorted it out. Still so much variance in speed, only went 16mph when driving around the block today, 2 days ago it went 20mph. |

Brushes are getting down there when they get even with the holder I replace them set valve lash to .004" and give the carb a good cleaning it appears the belt is coming t the top of the primary so that's good
