Forward/Reverse fuse popping
I have a 1978 ezgo gas golf cart with a robins engine. Recently it just stopped work at a stop sign. After rocking the cart back and forth got it to go and then stopped again at a stop. When pressing the gas you can hear the solenoid clicking but the engine is not turning. Replaced the Solenoid and no click but the fuse in the forward reverse area keeps popping. If I open the fuse holder, you hear a pop and when I close it it will start up again until put in reverse or forward then pops again. The fuse itself is good. Could it possibly be the relay is bad?

You should start with checking the brushes and connecting wires inside the starter. Since it's an internal starter, I don't know where the viewing window is.

update, it sat for the last 3 weeks and hopped on it this weekend it started right up, put in reverse was fine until I put into forward and then the fuse popped again.
