You name it and I have just about seen what golfers would do for more speed on our golf carts.
Be careful and enjoy your ride
Yes, the first thing I did when I got this cart was to replace all of the brake shoes
and springs!
My brakes handle the speed just fine, but I also don’t normally drive it at 33 mph. I usually drive it at 22-24 mph because my son rides around with me. I just wanted to see how fast I could get my buggy up too with the modifications I did to my originally bone stock 295cc Robin engine.
When I first got my buggy, the top speed was 19 mph, and now it’s 33 mph!
So a 14 mph gain is pretty impressive to me!

You can get high speed gears from pretty much any of the site sponsors here on Buggies Gone Wild. I got mine directly from EZGO Textron. And yes it is a royal pain in the a** to change out. You have to remove the entire transaxle/axle from the cart and split (unbolt) the transaxle case open to change out the gears. So unless you have a lot of patience and time to do it, it can be done. There are a number of Posts on this site that will give you the basic run down on how to do it. You will also need the factory transaxle manual to assist you. Not to mention, high speed gears are not cheap, so factor that in as well.

Here is the link to the factory transaxle manual:

I know this is an old thread but I got a 2008 ezgo with the 295cc robins in it. With no adjustments, it currently goes 13mph but I want it to go 20-25mph for street legal reasons.

Without changing the gears, is this possible? I have a 4" lift with 215x35r12 tires. If so, what adjustments can you recommend making to the governor?

When I adjust the throttle adjustment on the rear of the cart, I can get the cart to 19mph but it's screaming loud (high RPMs) and I cannot drive slow as it gets extremely jumpy lol
