Default 89 Marathon Rear axle questions

Hello all, new member here with a few questions.

So about a year ago I began looking for a golf cart for cruising around the farm, motorized wheelbarrow, just general use. My neighbor just happened to have one setting outside and I asked him about it. Of course the old saying, It ran when I parked it came up, so $40 buck later I had it home.

It has been setting ever since and yesterday I got it our and started working on it. I has good spark and I did get it running on Carb Cleaner for a few seconds so I think the engine will work. Took the carb off to clean it and the throttle shaft is toast. New carb time.

So my question is- there is a bell crank on top of the rear axle the the throttle cable runs to with an adjustable spring thingy on it. The bell crank shaft is really loose in the brass nut going into the axle housing. Got the nut out and that shaft is also toast. What does this shaft do and where do I get one? The brass nut also needs replaced. I am assuming that I have to split the axle case to replace this??

Also, does anyone make longer coil springs for the back instead of using blocks for a lift kit?

Thanks

89 was the first year of the 3pg 2 stroke engine. The engine itself still changes direction for forward, and reverse. The linkage on the rear end is for the governor.

Your clutches should be in line with each other front to back, and the engine has a single spark plug at the top of the cylinder. That is to verify exactly what you have.

The only manual that I have for that year is a parts manual. The rear end is on page CC-5.

Thankyou Cart Around

Yes, I have the 3pg 2 stroke engine config. I should have specified that in the OP.

I found the part number in the manual and so far in my short time of searching I an getting no joy at finding the parts. Discontinued Anyone know of someone selling NOS or used parts for this model?
