Default Drive clutch dust cover

I have an 1986 marathon.
Fresh rebuild and everything was running fine.
Now, it keeps browsing the dust cover off of the drive clutch.
Any ideas why??

Thanks!!

A few winters ago, mine exploded into a million pieces. I kept going, and never looked back.

Hey cart, thanks for the reply.
I know people run the driver with out the dust cover, but are you sure it’s cool to run the DRIVE without a cover?

My mistake. I read that as driven clutch because it is a plastic cover.

I never even considered the drive clutch as having a dust cover because that is a piece of metal, and part of the clutch.

I think losing that is a problem. I will have to go out to see exactly what attaches it to the clutch.

Mine doesn't look like this. I'm going to assume that yours does. https://www.golfcartking.com/ezgo-dr...gas-1976-1988/

It looks like there is a set screw on the side. Probably more than one.

That is it. 3 set screws. It is a comet duster clutch. The black plastic dust cover keeps blowing off.

If the screws keep loosening, I would try Loctite.

If the screws are slipping where they grab, I would drill a little indentation so they have something to lock on to.

Mine is a comet duster. It doesn’t have a cover, and it never has.

Luke, No problem with dirt and stuff getting in there? It almost seems as if the clutch is expanding too much and pushing the cover off.
