Default Starter generator

Have a 2012 ezgo. Cart squeals a little when you first hit the gas unless you really ease into it. I’m thinking it’s the starter generator or the belt. I’m going to change the belt first but if that doesn’t work I’ll replace the starter. Question is, how do I know which one to get?

is this before the engine even starts or is it while accelerating? Seeing as easing into it helps I’m guessing it’s the larger drive belt…

Squeal is right when you first hit the gas. I was told that it had the wrong belt on the starter generator. Whistles all the time. Seems that it squeals before the big belt even starts to engage.

Definitely a starter generator belt then. Make sure it is the correct belt and make sure it is tight. An old belt will also slip so you might want to replace it regardless.

You can lift the seat and look. If the pulley on the starter generator is turning but the drive clutch is not, you have a problem with the smaller belt.
