Re: 83 Marathon Muffler Question
Here is a picture of an 87. You would need a muffler, head pipe, and two brackets. Your best bet is a donor cart.

Re: 83 Marathon Muffler Question
A good muffler shop could make the header pipe, they may have to cut off and weld on the old flanges but no biggy. But you'll need to get the muffler mounted first.....
Here's a few pics of the top mount, it's hard to see but it'll give you an idea of what it is |

Dabble In - Thank you for the pictures.
Cart Around - What is the source of the brackets needed to mount muffler in the vertical position? |

Re: 83 Marathon Muffler Question
The source would be what ever you can find. You need to look for a wrecked or junked out fifty dollar donor cart.

Re: 83 Marathon Muffler Question
Had a scare today, zinging down the road at wide open 22mph and BAM it went to super loud. I figured either muffler or header pipe, Looked under it to find both header pipe studs were gone. Luckily not broke off but just missing, should be an easy fix but very strange, perhaps using anti-seize on them 2 years ago when rebuilt the engine wasn't a good idea........
Anyway when thinking it might be the header pipe another thought came to mind for the OP here, there's the option of flexible exhaust pipe tubing that might help you out |
