Are you sure the key was on and the peddle was pressed? Cuz that is not good, it means the problem is not in the solenoid. Can you test to see that you have pos and neg at 1 each of the small terminals? If so and the solenoid does not fire it is bad.....But it is not your only problem because when you jumped it ... you eliminated it from the circuit .... jump it again and check for power in and out of the controller. With the key on and the peddle pressed. And As DOOMS so thoughfuly reminded us! With the cart on jack stands, lol

joe, I have reread this thread and I do not think the solenoid is bad..... In your 1st post you stated that the battery acid clearly ran into the potentiometer...
99-02 CC Regen

This pot has a micro switch in it which we need to confirm that it is working it is an on/off switch ... check it with the DVM set to continuity or however you are comfortable testing it.
While we are at it lets check the micros on the F&R too so we can rule out any of the micros. They all need to work to make her run .......
Next we should test the output signal from the pot to the controller ..... it should be 5kohms - 0.
5k at rest. 0 at wide open throttle. What kind of meter do you have? Can you find the setting for this test?
I hope this helps......

you have the wrong diagram. i do not have the tow haul switch and i have an old style f and r switch. and i do not have a resisitor

i do also feel the poten. is suspect. i have a digital voltmeter and should be able to ohms with no problems. it will be later today when i get to it...have to work this morning.

update -- i had it moving...only in reverse and only after an arc in the f n r switch. pulled it apart and saw much corrosion. washed it with coke and am about to try and reassemble. also put in a new solenoid.

fixed. i pulled f n r switch and soaked in in coke and rinsed it off...and it is running great. i still think solenoid was part of issue as the switch would not have corroded immediately causing cart not to run it was only with new solenoid that i found other problem.

thanks to you all and to the golf cart shop next to my office for letting me "try" a solenoid.
