Why would you say that, both are the best, but both are not needed. My 2ga are crimped first, then soldered.

You are overkilling the overkill
Most (90%) karts never need 2 ga cables. A good crimp OR a good solder is sufficient to maintain the connection Overkill doesn't hurt unless you are tightening a bolt or hammering a nail? It just doesn't make it any better in my opinion

Look the difference in 2 Gage and 4 Gage usage , and solder and crimp is a point of preference.
If both will work then use both U are bound to get the best results.
If the difference between #4 and #2 is only $20.00 spend the money , then if you need the extra it's there.
It's Kinda like the reason I drive 4x4 where it only snows 2" every year. I have to pull a friends vehicle out of some mess and to me it's worth it to have it if I need it.

PS: sorry to hear you and Chasenfish are related

A quick item here, silver solder costs more and needs a lot more heat.
It is used on air conditioning lines for the high pressure.
You will want a mapp gas torch not propane.
The higher heat will melt/harden more insulation.

Did I ever say I didn't know it was overkill? Perhaps on occassion I feel I don't get enough man time and would rather spend more time in the garage than in the house helping kids doing homework so overkill becomes an excuses for man time to blow off stress. Any man that still has his man card can buy into that. And my 2ga, which I know is overkill will be used for my 500-600amp controller, so I figured, go big and and if you get a controller in that amp range, you're not spending money twice. Plus, I believe as I have said in many other posts, I got a steal on the wire so... yes, we know I went overkill...quit harping on me...

Well right now with a 13yr old in 7th grade and a 10 yr old in 5th grade, homework is... 3-4 hours a night (worst case) of torture for everyone, it's crazy what the schools expect the kids to know but don't provide the resources for.

Lead-tin solder is ample for this use, silver as solder is overkill. Most if you want overkill use gold, best conductor but cost is high gain is low. Do you dielectric grease on battery connections.
