Battery question.

If I charge it a couple hours too long, will it damage the batteries or evaporate the water faster?

The finishing cycle is only a few amps you can error by a couple hours without damage now and again, there is a reason they went to automatic voltage sensing chargers .....

I think I get it now! the amp meter on the front of my charger is telling me what the charger is delivering to the pack. That shouldn't have been that hard forme to figure out. So my charger is a variable reate charger and the closer it gets to completion the lower amperage that is delivered finishing off the charge. The first charge was about 14 hours and second about 12. I am sure both fully charged the pack. I tested the voltage again after it rested and it is reading 39.2v. Still a little higher than the chart, but I don't guess that will hurt anything

Glad that finally makes sense, the charger has 3 levels of charge the final finishing or leveling charge is just 2-3 amps but very important to equalize the voltage in the cells... It is critical to a pack's health that the cells be equal in voltage and SG ....... Sounds like you are good

Don't damage your batteries by failing to have a correctly operating charger. Is there a cart shop close to you that will take a look at it? Our charger repair rates are $50.00 labor + parts. No charge to "look" at it. You have to expect on repairing things when you own a 23 year old cart

I do have a couple shops close by. I will take it by one this week. Since I started with a $50 cart and have replaced almost evrything on it, I understand the challenges of a 23 year old cart. But bottom line, I have a cart that now seems to suite all of my needs and look cool for about $1600 with learning a lot ta boot. I would say all in all I am satisfied. I just want to make the smart descicion with regard to replacing/repairing charger or learning how to use it as is.

Good point - But if it's not working correctly, then fix it before you over charge / cook your batteries...

CHarger repair takes a pretty good tech, I would leave this to the professionals

Usually when we get a charger that has already been "LOOKED" at by the owner, the price nearly doubles from things they damaged while self diagnosing.
