2005 Precedent burning up diode

I have a 2005 Club Car Precedent that keeps burning up the diode that runs between the two solenoid posts. Any idea as to what could be causing it??

Are you talking about what goes across large posts or small posts on solenoid? I dont see a DIODE listed for 2005 Precedent only a CC #102522701 Precharged RESISTOR that goes across the large solenoid posts? Some solenoids come with diode built in??

It's a resistor and there is no specific polarity for it. It can go on either way If you're burning them up it's the result of an internal short in the motor or in the controller. Does the car still run? If so, it probably won't for long.

Yes, it must be a resistor... someone told me it was a diode. Anyways, I did swap the controller from a friends cart (same year and model) and that didn't help. No, the cart doesn't run at all. As soon as I put the resistor in and connect the positive and negative to the Batteries, it gets very hot very quickly. Since I seem to have eliminated the possibility of a short in the controller, how can I check to see if there is a short in the motor?

Take wires loose from the motor... Check for continuity between A1 and A2... it should be 100% Check for continuity between F1 and F2... it should also be 100%.. You should not have continuity between any A or F posts.

I always add one more test point when checking for continuity on DC motors and that is from any A or F terminal to motor frame. Its seldom that you get any connection but its always worth a few seconds more to be sure?
