Default 48v to 12v wiring/wires

My current convert only has 4 wires and one of them is yellow (I assume control wire). Does this mean the negative for in and out is shared?

If the converter has 4 wires, it likely not switched. Here's a 10A converter. Two wires are for 48V + and -. The other two are for 12V + and -.

Since I wanted mine switched, I wired it to a 48V relay that turns on and off with the key switch.

Does your look similar?

Kinda, have to look again but think mine has 2 red, 1 black, not 2 black.

Thumbs up Re: 48v to 12v wiring/wires

That's only 3 wires!

Googled this:
Universal Fit for Club Car, EZGO, and Yamaha Golf Carts
All epoxy sealed containers with Waterproof Die-Cast Aluminum Housing
Light compact, convenient to use and transport
Non-isolated
High efficiency:> 90%;
Operating temperature at -10 to +60;(max.+80)
With overload / over-current / over / low voltage protection for stable performance
Auto recovery
Wires=
Red 36V-48V+ in, Black 36V-48V- in ,
Yellow 12V+ out , Black 12V- out

Now if your cart has a 48 volt key switch you could hook the red to it and cut the power off to the reducer anytime the key is off. This will of course delete your radio stations if you have a radio with memory.

One wire is from battery +, one is from key, one goes to all accessories + and one goes to ground.

So confusing to me......

You might get more help if you can identify:
-Make/model of cart
-Year
-Manufacturer of converter/model

Some info appears missing or doesn't make sense. Good luck.

Question Re: 48v to 12v wiring/wires

I have never seen a reducer not have both incoming + & - wires. Are 12 volt out going + & - wires. You can't make it work without them.
Well you can but it defeats the purpose of the reducer.

I think this pic is my situation....

Assume that's 48+ off key switch (not a ground) to make things worse the switch only has 3 terminals so B feeds I and L I guess (no b1).

I stopped thinking and started reading the chart I posted above and realized the fuse I see is not on the input side but on the output side so all my meter reading I now realized were backwards. I suddenly feel less confused. Dying to get back to the beach and start over. THANKS ALL.
