1988 ezgo 2stroke oil injection oil type
Hello, just joined the forum. It looks like a great place to get help and information. So i bought a 1988 ezgo 2stroke and was wondering what oil i need to use for it, it has the oil injection and im going to assume it works properly (any tips on how to check would be appreciated) cause i can drive it around just fine. Guy i bought it form said the guy he got it from used 5w-30 but wasnt sure if its some kind of 2stroke oil or regular engine oil. so my question is what oil do these things take?

Most people on here take that injector off. If it breaks well your done. You need to plug the hole in the top of the intake with a 6mm screw after you take it off.
Premix is 1 ounce of 2 cycle oil per gallon of gasoline. |

I use any 2 cycle engine oil I can find. Depending on the store. It's made to mix with your gasoline.

I used Golden Spectro in my 2 stroke bikes for years before I got old and bought 4 stroke bikes. :)

Re: 1988 ezgo 2stroke oil injection oil type
I use that walmart 2 stroke gallon of oil for lots of things like saws and weedeaters, it burns clean no issues with it. For performance use such as a big outboard I get synthetic or mercury oil, etc. The little bottles at walmart seems to be different stuff. Get a plastic measure cup for yard or paint use, mix with that. Most golf carts take very little oil the yamaha G1 most mix around 80-100:1. I do have a qt of bean oil (benol) I put a little in the 2 stroke gas, it smells like something else lol we used it in snowmobiles many years back. I've even put a touch in the G9 clone just for some scent, messes with people it smells like race fuel. Golden spectro, yep we used in mx bikes way back, sleds too.

Re: 1988 ezgo 2stroke oil injection oil type
Carts are low stress engines, so yes you can use about any 2 stroke oil. I would not use non 2 stroke oil. I like the walmart stuff in gallon its cheap and burns clean, does not stink or smoke much, works nice in non performance engines (read not real expensive engines lol). I've used mercury and johnson oil, pennsoil, yamalube, they are all good 2 stroke oils as well.
