Default Need help with 30A reducer relay/switch

2017 RXV W/30A reducer

The voltage reducer on my cart is directly wired to the pack so it’s on all the time. I actually don’t want to change that as I like to leave my u set glow lights on if we have ppl at the house outside(cheesy, I know). I would like to put a switch or relay on my reducer. Can o add just a toggle on the pos or neg or does it need to be a relay? If someone can tell me what and how, I would appreciate it.

Thank you,
Steve

A 10 amp rated switch can be used to turn reducer input power on and off. Maximum input current should not exceed 8 amps at full rated output current.

Lee I just recently did this to my cart.
I just used a relay (3 for 10.00) off amazon).
Also made a post on how to wire a relay to the convertor if you guestion s how to do it.
At first I had it wired to turn on/off with toggle switch but later changed it to turn on or off via run tow switch but either way will work😊

Never tie a relay coil to the run/tow switch on a modern controller, as the inductive spike from the coil could damage that logic input on the controller. This would apply to RXVs, TXT48s, and newer carts.

Thanks Bob. I ordered a 20a toggle. You said power input, so should it be placed on the main power.

Yes, in the main + power lead from the battery pack to the reducer.

Bob when you have time please look at my post on how I advised and connected 48 volt relay to turn my converter on / off using solenoid terminal switched by run/tow switch. I believe it correct and it does , has worked but if you believe it could do damage as mentioned above please correct.

Last thing I want to do is give incorrect info on wireing a relay for that purpose if it’s flawed 😊
Fact check please👍
