Converting to 48 volt
Hey all,
Happy Friday!! I’m slowly gathering parts to convert my 2006 Ezgo TXT PDS to 48 volts. Already have 2 gauge wires 400 amp altrax controller, and heavy duty solenoid installed. Picked up a year old charger from a guy who had his cart run over on his front yard by a drunk driver...no major injuries...thank God. Just waiting for current batteries to die before getting the 48 v pack I just received the new triangle charger receptical to go with the charger. as well. I understand where the red, black, and heat sensor wire go, but little blue one has me stumped. Will it get spliced into the little red wire ( not the positive battery one) coming off my current receptical? If not where? Thanks for the help!! |

Re: Converting to 48 volt
its used for the charger inhibit input to the controller, keeps the controller shut off while charger is plugged in. you can leave alone, tape or shrink tube wrap it.

Re: Converting to 48 volt
The blue wire is from the updated version of the reed switch.
Without B+ connected to J1 Pin-4, the cart won't run. The blue wire from the new charge receptacle provides B+ to J1 Pin-4 when the charger is NOT plugged into the receptacle, the same as the red wire from the reed switch used to. If you have previously bypassed the reed switch as many do, go ahead and leave the blue wire disconnected and tape it up as Phil_Billy suggested. |

Re: Converting to 48 volt
Thank you, gentlemen!
So the smaller red wire (not the positive wire) coming off the current 36v charging receptical can just be taped off then correct? |

Quote:
Battery voltage has to be on the red wire that goes from the driver's side of the cart to the controller, or gotten to the controller by some other means. |

Re: Converting to 48 volt
Here’s what I have. Red wire connected to charging receptical, spliced near receptical in first pic, spliced again to the red wire with white stripe (pic 2) which plugs into controller. No other fuses along the wire. Looking at photos of reed switch, I don’t think I have one. But that’s why I bug the crap out you guys to make sure.
Have a great weekend! Hope those in LA and TX made it through the weather okay!!! |

Re: Converting to 48 volt
Hook the blue wire to the little red wire on your charge port.
