Re: GE Beast motor VS. D&D Torque motor
Go with the GE motor. I've been told by many companies including Plum Quick that GE produces the highest quality motors. I have a GE D1162 which is the "Beast motor" for the TXT PDS cart and it runs smooth with tons of torque. When I tried to talk to D&D all I got was a bunch of BS with no clear answers to my questions. Plum Quick was willing to talk and explain things to me for over 30 minutes so I bought one of their motors as well. It flys!!!

Re: GE Beast motor VS. D&D Torque motor
I just put in a D&D high torque motor so you guys are depressing me. I guess I will have to live with it for now and give a review later after I check it out.

300 was you able to do a wheel stand after the beast motor? What amp controller are you running 36v or 48v?

Re: GE Beast motor VS. D&D Torque motor
I have a 2001 TXT PDS cart with a 48 volt system (8ea X 6 volt batteries) MZJ400 AMP Contactor, Altrax 500 AMP controller, 2 gauge wires, lifited cart with 23" tall tires, 12:1 stk gears. It pulls the front end up pretty hard but I would not call it a wheel stand. Measured speed using a Garmin 350T GPS. Top speed is 25 MPH with the D1162 GE motor. 31 MPH using my Plum Quick motor which is a D&D motor rebuilt by Plum Quick motor. The D&D motor came with the cart when I bought it. It was making all kind of noise so I sent it to Plum Quick for a rebuild. Left running 27-28 came back running 31 and very quiet. RPM's like my small block Chevy. Hope this helps....

Re: GE Beast motor VS. D&D Torque motor
How much do they charge at Plum Quick to speed up a new D&D Motor? I might need to try and program the Alltrax controller first eh?

Re: GE Beast motor VS. D&D Torque motor
i just installed a plum quick motor in my dads cart. the motor gave us some problems. but, i called and talked with robby at plum quick. he quickly figured out the ups had dropped the motor and damaged the bearings in the motor. he promptly shipped me out another motor. to no surprise, ups had drop that one as well, but was easy to notice on the second motor. after many other problems with local shops not willing to check out other things robby wanted them to check, i carried the cart to robby. it was a 4 hour drive one way to his shop. i must say, it was well worth the drive. they quickly identified the problem with the cart, swapped the motor and changed a few settings in the computer. i did have them upgrade the controller while i was there i must say a few things about robby and everyone at plum quick. those guys are the best. their customer service is out of this world, they never once tried to brush me off. their motor performs beyond what i was expecting. these guys knowledge exceeds that of anyone i have talked with about motors. they never once said anything bad about anyones motors or over praised theirs.
sorry for going on so long, but, everyone at plum quick is very personal and will take the time with you that is needed to solve problems or meet your needs. i have meet the guys from beast, nice guys but there is no way i can hold them up to plum quick |

Re: GE Beast motor VS. D&D Torque motor
Agree, agree, agree with everything said about Plum Quick. They are building a motor for me right now. I would NEVER dream of getting a motor any where else. Great people. Great product. Great service. Over and above what I ever imagined.

225.00 plus 25.00 for shipping. Worth every penny Plum Quick told me that the GE "Beast" motor P/N D1162 is one of the highest quality motors you can buy. They also told me that they could re-work the new stock motor to run 25% faster with more torque for 250.00.

Re: GE Beast motor VS. D&D Torque motor
I have had the GE Beast motor in my 36volt TXT cart for two years now and it is awesome. 1400 rpm motor with 8 hp at 36 volts or 11 hp at 48 volts. It is a great set-up for a hunting cart and pulls hills great. Do not expect a lot of speed 14 mph to 16 mph. However, if you want to pull a stump out of the ground this is your motor.
