tire psi ???
just installed 22/10/12 sahara classic 4-ply tires, went to check pressures, sidewall of tire says max running is 5 psi., can this be right, it seems awful low, tires came mounted wih about 20psi, not sure what to do, don't want to run over or under inflated, any suggestions??

Re: tire psi ???
If the sidewall says 5psi,Thats the recommended max.You can up it a little, maybe 10 but it will probably ride like a dump-truck.Most suppliers mount them and set all of them the same reguardless of what the tire says.Try them at 5psi,and see how it rides/handles and adjust from there. You can run different pressures front/rear depending on loading/options(dump-box,rear-seat,etc..).I run mine around 5 and have no problems, they have been that way 3yrs.Hope this helps.

Re: tire psi ???
Pachanga is right, It doesn't take much.
I don't use a gauge, I wet my tire and move forward on concrete to check the "footprint". Rhobyn's G2 runs about 3psi but I'm running a 10" wide rim with 3" wheel spacers. Rides like a Caddy |

Re: tire psi ???
I have the same series tire and run 8 in mine. I use my cart 50/50 road and trail and with 5 it ran noisy and slow on the blacktop.

Re: tire psi ???
That's why I don't use a gauge, there are so many variables, you change rim width 1" and PSI changes. it's not set in stone. It depends on driving surface as well.

Re: tire psi ???
they put 20+ psi in them when they mount them to set the beads and it keeps then from getting flat spots on them if mounted on a cart at a dealer.
I set all my tires at 20psi that r for sale. I do this so they dont flat spot b4 a customer buys the cart. When i sale a cart with big tires i lower them down to anywhere form 5-8 (like stated) depending on tread. My shop is right besides a bodyshop (my sister company). I usually ride thru their shop to see where the tread is riding. This is the same as the wet trick above. Gotta love sanding dust. |

Re: tire psi ???
I have the same tires on a gas and an sparky. I run 5-8 on the gas and 10 on the sparky cause of the extra weight. Sparky rides really smooth, gasser is a bit stiff at 8
