fuel line into carb
Hi Guys, I have a question regarding the fuel line going into the Carb. It appears to be a push in type fitting, but with the vibrations of the engine, it seems to rattle out shooting fuel all over the place. The fitting came off when I was removing the carb for cleaning, I was just wondering what is/was suppossed to be there to hold it in place? Looking at the diagrams, I don`t see a clamp or anything. Should there be a bit of loctite or something in the fitting? It doesn`t leak when I hold it in place and the cart is running.
Thanks Jim |

Re: fuel line into carb
Jim there should be clamps at all fuel line connections. It also sounds like the fuel line is ether really old and brittle or the improper size. You need to install NEW 1/4" Fuel line not vacuum line. Make sure the line you purchase is for fuel.

Re: fuel line into carb
Hi racin, I installed new fuel lines with new clamps. the issue is with the "L" fitting that goes into the carb. This is what is rattling out. Its the junction that the fuel line goes into from the fuel pump into the carb.

Re: fuel line into carb
I had this happen with my marathon. I put JB weld on it, and its been holding for a year with no problems. just make sure your careful when pulling the fuel line off in the future.

Re: fuel line into carb
Red thread lock and a tap with a hammer works best.

Re: fuel line into carb
Hi guys, I used the thread sealant than just to be safe, I went with the JB weld. I figured no need to deal with a hot engine and a gas leak at the same time so better safe than "on fire" so to speak. Seems to have worked.
Thanks for all the advice. Jim |

Re: fuel line into carb
I was going to suggest doing both. Good luck and keep us informed.

Re: fuel line into carb
Hi guys, thanks for all the suggestions. The JB weld is holding no worries. I guess one thing I would remind folks that have to do this is that the entrance into the carb is not straight up and down, its at a bit of an angle towards the fuel pump (85 degrees). I guess 90 would work but there may be a bit of a strain on the fuel line at straight up and down.
