8v to 12v battery conversion.
I have a 1998 48v ds club car and want to switch to 12v batteries. I can get a great deal on 12v batteries. I read the sticky about 12v to 8v but that was a slightly different cart. I know that I will lose some power, but it is only used in a small campground. If you have any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks for looking.

Probably isn't but this could be a first. What's your great deal? Usually get what you pay for. You likely won't get as much run time or the longevity in the 12v batteries. But if it's truly a great deal, would probably be worth it. I use mine at a campground and the runtime is plenty on a daily basis - and that's at a pretty big campground that my son makes endless loops around on a daily/nightly basis. I just got new batts so I'm hoping for even better performance, at least for a while. I have no idea how such a switch might impact the other components of your cart or if something else needs to be replaced.

Thanks for your input. My son works at O'Reilly and he can get a good discount. They have AC Delco and Super Start batteries. I will post model and price after I go up there. Might be a couple of days though. I just found out that its his weekend is today and tomorrow.

Make Double sure that the 12V batteries are designed for Golf Carts.

Re: 8v to 12v battery conversion.
if it lists "Cold Cranking Amps", it is the wrong kind of battery, it should list "AMP hours rate".
