![]() I had the common issue of the slipping reared on my Case. On the thread I found, can’t find it now, several people asked if the locker can be welded, NO one would reply, only tell them to order a one for $1200.
The answer is yes it can be welded. This is hardened steel, I would suggest to TIG with preheating and slow cool down. I started my preheat in a rod oven, then prior to welding then I used a rose bud. Do not heat to discoloration, just get the temp up. Now fuse the pieces, use a hard filler (316ss 3/32” is what I did) then back in the rod oven overnight. Next day I pulled it out and let it cool to ambient temp. Hope this helps someone. Bearing assembly’s are a big pain to pull, a slid hammer is the way I did it. |
