Suggestions on Electric ClubCar choice
I recently acquired a gas cart (Yamaha G1 gas on a Columbia body) that this board helped me so much to get running great again. But after seeing how relatively loud it is and smoky - its a two stroke - Ive decided to sell it and get a non running electric cart for cheap to restore and use. I think my neighborhood will frown on my gas cart smoke and noise.
Since I live on the coast, I figured a Electric ClubCar with its alum frame. Can anyone suggest what years I should look for and how much difficulty is it to restore the non-running electric ClubCar carts. Im gong to want one that can get 25-30mph. And are there any particular models or series to avoid? Suggestions? Thanks all! |

Why buy a non runner, in my limited shopping experience people want way too much money for them vs what you have to spend just to get it running before any mods. Remember if you buy a non runner chances are the batteries are going to be dead, a set of batteries will cost you $700+ and it seems most people want at least $800 for the non runner. This is verses buying a running ex fleet 5 or so year old Club Car Precedent with a charger for something around $1,500 (at least that is the going rate here +/- a couple of hundred) with batteries that still have some life to them.

Any DS with the IQ drive system or Precedent (IQ or Excel) with six 8-Volt batteries will be exactly what you need.

While the DS models are a bit cheaper to upgrade, and in some cases easier to work on, I personally am a fan of the precedent 2008-2014 models. Just my two cents.
Each has their own merit. So I am not dogging any other choice. |
