Clanking noise rear end 1984
Makes clanking noise when accelerator is pressed. Quits when letting off. Electric cart

Could be the bearing in the rear of the motor...that is what mine was...

1984 is a dinosaur. Can you post pictures of the rear differential here? The original differential from this cart is no longer in production, not can repair parts be purchased. The same can be said for the motor. I'd like to identify exactly what we're working with before I recommend what needs to be done to make a quality repair.
