Re: Club Car DS 2007 Carb Questions
I read somewheres that the chinese carbs are prone to the butterfly breaking or the screws breaking and trashing the engine; I bought one on ebay but scared to install it. Has anyone else had problems with them?

Re: Club Car DS 2007 Carb Questions
I don't have any experience with the $20 carbs, Just from what I've read on here!
Cart mechanics hate them... and D-I-Y cart owners love them! but I'll suspect that the throttle plate shaft doesn't have tight tolerances like the OEM or good aftermarket carbs do, the only thing I can suggest is to see IF the throttle plate "squeaks" against the throttle body when operating it by hand, If it does? you may run into future problems. I only have experience with 3 carb's that had broken throttle plates, One had the plate and screws missing (that someone brought to me to check) I said... "Uh oh... you might have a problem!" I handed it back to him, and told him that he may need to get his engine rebuilt! (I don't know what ever happened with that) Two of them had half of the butterflies missing, but the screws were intact, This one I replaced for a friend at the campground, and explained that there maybe some damage... or not... 053.JPG 056.JPG He said... "It didn't matter, the engine needs to be rebuilt anyway, I just need it running!" He had it rebuilt the next winter, and the rebuilder found the broken throttle plate lodged in the intake port... lucky him! |

lockman1 - in the picture, what is screw # 9, and what should it be set for (how many turns). and btw, on my '93 club car ds, screw #15 does not have a tab.

Re: Club Car DS 2007 Carb Questions
I saw your other thread...
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...djustment.html but I forgot which thread I posted this info in... #9 is the idle set screw... because "pedal start" carts don't really idle, it has minimal use. You can set it with the cart not running, turn it in until it just contacts the throttle cam, then back it off 1/4 turn. |

#15 is the idle mix screw. Normally it's set to around 1/1/2 to 2 turns out, but don't expect it to make much difference. It only effects very low rpm operation and most cart don't spend much time at very low rpms. |
