Default Engine won't run after shifting gear

I got stuck in some sugar sand, had my wife push the gas while I pushed us out. When I got back to the road, I put it in to forward gear and pressed the gas and nothing happened. (Gas DS) Shifted back to reverse, nothing. Back to forward, nothing. Key off, key on, nothing. It took a good hard shove to reverse for it to kick in finally, then I put it in to the forward gear and it was fine. The gear shifting feels very...dry? Very crunchy/scrapy when the selector moves...not smooth at all. What should I be looking for to correct this (don't want to get stranded somewhere). Thanks!

Check the little yellow spring-loaded cam on the back side of the gear shifter (lift the seat). That little yellow cam is the neutral lockout and it operates a micro switch that keeps the cart from starting in neutral. Once you shift into gear the cam will operate the micro switch and allow ignition. If that little cam is getting stuck, maybe from the sand, it could be disabling your cart from starting.

Yea that's how mine looks, seems maybe the micro switch mount maybe needs to be adjusted. Do you happen to know what all the wires go to? I have like 3 or 4 just disconnected.

The orange and the red/white wires are for your reverse buzzer. Leave them off if you like peace and quiet while backing up.

Reverse buzzer microswitch (closest to the body)
~ Orange connects to the black wire coming from the micro
~ Red w/white connects to the blue wire coming from the micro
~ Solid Red coming from the micro is not connected to anything

Neutral lockout microswitch (closest to the engine)
~ Black on top
~ Green on the upper end of the micro
~ White on the lower end

Besides the reverse buzzer (red w/white to blue) not being hooked up,
it looks like everything else is connected correctly!

Well, the top tab on my micro switch for the buzzer is busted, and the buzzer doesn't work anyway (I have put power to it just to see if it would work). What's so very bad about not having one?
