Drive clutch
I have a drive clutch that came off of a '96 CC DS that is showing wear, not bad but I'd like to clean it up to a smooth surface. my problem is how do I take this clutch apart so I can chuck it up in my lathe to do this. I'm an old man who could buy a new clutch but rather I'd like to refurbish this one just for the hell of it more than saving money, saving money is nice though but the knowledge from this project would out weigh that to me.
Can anyone please explain to me how to take this clutch apart. The clutch that is on the engine in case I'm not referring to it correctly when I say drive clutch I've been making, modifying etc my toys since I was old enough to understand what a pair of pliars and crescent wrench is and how they work and what they're used for. In other words since long before I was school age. I'm 69 YO now. |

Re: Drive clutch
A three-hole puller is what opens that clutch.

Re: Drive clutch
Thank you.
I just returned from the parts store with one. Like to add: What angle are the clutch faces machined at? Thanks in advance |

Re: Drive clutch
I'm not sure what the angle is, I assume you're talking about the sheaves that grip the belt?
I've never heard of anyone here machining the actual faces of the sheaves (where the belt contacts) on and older drive clutch. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that this has the potential to make things worse by changing the power band of the clutch, which could rob your cart's power on the high end by not allowing the clutch to raise up as high in the sheaves as you speed up. I haven't done any modifications to my drive clutch, but the only thing I remember ever seeing for modding drive clutches is a power spring. Maybe someone else can confirm or deny my observations. |

Re: Drive clutch
You could go to You Tube and put club car ds clutch into the search and you will get lots of video's to watch which you may find useful.
