My 96 club car is needing to be choked every time i take off. Weather its cold or warmed up. Im smelling gas and getting some backfiring. Suspecting carb issue , but not being a great mechanic, I'd GREATLY appreciate any suggestions or advise! Thank you kindly

Re: 96 club car, carb issues???
Hey Hammer. This is what I suggest to do. It has worked for me over the years. Replace the fuel lines, most people need to do this anyway. Replace the fuel filter(s) depending on how yours is equipped.
In your situation the first thing I would do is replace the spark plug. Also, how often is it run? How old is the gas? |

Remove carb and clean. Majority of the time that is what it is.

Usually the carb gets jelled up from sitting or a jet clogged. It usually needs choked always to get it going.
Take off the carb and clean it out. |

Took carb off and cleaned it up. Runs moderately better but not great. Have to pedal the gas to get it to run and get some pops comeing back through the air intake box

Re: 96 club car, carb issues???
Replaced plug. Cleaned carb again. Took it out. Ran well, until i lost juice. This battery is only 2 weeks old. It was weak, and had to charge it today just to be able to work on it. Could it been drained by having to work so hard to get it to run, and without sufficient run time to charge of the generator? Got it charging over night, and will get it tested , but hoping its not the generator
