ezgo dcs problems

Got a good buy on a dcs with dead batteries (i thought). One of those that had sat a few years. Put batteries in it and got nothing. Fiddled with all of the wire connections and it went in reverse even if the selector was in forward. Fiddled some more and now moves in forward no matter what. Took off on it and it went 30 feet and nothing again. pushed it back and fiddled with connections again. Got a spark from the connection on top of the control. pulled it and the pin closest to the outside has a charred spot. Guessing new control?

Update, I jumped the solenoid, which I will soon replace, and it runs great but still nothing but forward. Has to be a controller?

DCS has F&R switches which should be tested before you buy a controller.

Micro switches are on/off type. Go here & watch a little video > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/troubleshooting-tips.html

If the switches test bad, the controller might be good

Check for continuity through the switch.
