older cc ds scotty conversion kit controller
have an 93 ds that im thinking the controller is fried. not sure yet but im going to break into it to confirm. its an alltrax npx 4844 i suspect its contoller because other things have been eliminated fwdrev switch and have upgraded solenoid (which clicks). ive done the bypass to ck motor. the question is what controller to buy to replace the old one with if needed?
lifted, oversize tires, added rear seat. this system was prob maxed from the beginning it was a gen 3 solid-state conversion kit from around 2013. i would guess more amp is needed. |

Re: older cc ds scotty conversion kit controller
The NPX4844 had a peak output of 400 amps. The new generation is SR48400. This control has a peak output of 460 amps and can be outfitted with a cooling fan (optional) that will extend the peak out time. Moving up to the SR48500 would require a bigger 400 solenoid. So the 460 might be the right fit.

Re: older cc ds scotty conversion kit controller
will the sr48500 plug and play with the old conversion. The old pedal bell crank and pot etc.
Would the wiring from the solenoid be same? |

Re: older cc ds scotty conversion kit controller
Yes and yes. The SR will basically be a plug and play replacement for the old control. Select the default 0-5k throttle and use the old 400 solenoid.
Remember all the old 3 blade series controls have the same connections. Simply mark the wires B+ B- M- and 1,2,3 before you remove them. 1 = controller circuit power in usually from solenoid small + terminal. 2,3 = throttle signal = J4, J5 in either order. |
