Default 1983 Club Car DS Stopped working

Hello, working on a 1983 Club Car DS. It is my son's and about 25 minutes away He is deployed to the end of July so I am trying to fix it for him.

We had it fairly heavily loaded going down the road and it stopped working. The batteries may not have been well charged at that point.

6 newer 6 volt batteries. Has full 36 volts.

I have been reading a lot so I think I understand some of the system.

Started troubleshooting. When depressing the "gas" pedal, only one click, no movement. On the back of the FNR switch, the lower of the two rear cables was rotated up and touching the above one. The insulation on the terminal look good so I don't think it was doing anything but I corrected it.

After poking around, Loosening and tightening the master battery ground( but it looked OK so I don't think that was it. Now when I press the gas pedal, it gently moves forward with no force. It easily stops against the thing in fron of it.

I am concerned by only hearing one click, I thought there should be 5 clicks.

I am thinking of jumping the master (drivers side most) solenoid back by the coils.

Also there is another solenoid in the lower front center of the battery compartment. I am not sure what this one does? Is the abosulte master solenoid that is energized with the key switch and allows all cart functions?

Although it is an old cart it is in good shape. Garage keep, formerly owned by an engineer and it stock except for the lift and larger wheels installed a month ago.

Thanks for any and all thoughts!
Joe

It is fixed. Apparently it was not fully charged. Works fine with a full charge.

We went scalloping with 2 golf carts, this one and a slightly newer one. This charger got wet so we used the others different charger. I did not get too involved. My two sons were on it. One is a Marine and the other is an engineer. Two different philosophies.

I used a digital volt meter and it looked OK but probably did not have any capacity under load. Not sure what the other charger did but now everything works.

Yep. 6 dead batteries, a marine, and an engineer cause this problem all the time.

Glad you got it going.
