I called equus on the tech side & was told the 6086 DOES NOT work with an inductive pickup... why is this.. is it just for plug & play, or can I wire it in somehow.. Sorry for what might be dumb questions... but I've never thought about putting something in less than 4 cylinders... lol

And yet the instructions with the tach tell you use the inductive on certain applications Weird huh ? I ran the green wire from the tach down to the black wire on the the rev limiter as per Shadowmans recomendation, it works great !! To set it up for single cylinder you hold the red button in while you energise the tach (mine's through the ignition switch) wait for the needle to fully cycle and then push the button until you get it to 500rpm iirc. That should set it.

I have the 6088 version. Got it from O'Reilly auto parts, $35.00 iirc. This version allows cylinder selection from 1 through 12.

Rob,
Your sources are flat out wrong! The 6000 series comes with inductive pick up as listed on their web page as one of the benefits.

Buy the Equus, it works. We've all told you it does, we've all told you we are using them.

What Essness said, my instructions give clear and concise directions as how to configure the 6088 for 1 through 12 cylinder applications, hell fire, here's a direct quote from the instruction sheet; "Cylinder setting instructions, No of cylinders on vehicle, 1,2 3,4,5,6 8, 10,12. Remove power from tach (turn ignition off). Press and hold red button at rear of unit, then apply power to tach, (turn ignition on). Press and release red button as many times as required until the needle points to the correct RPM for the signal option used". Which in the case of a single cylinder is 500 RPM. Job done.

Thanks Guys!!
I was blessed with a thick skull & sometimes it just needs to be punched in there
I will go pick up the 6088 today & put in by this weekend..
Will also try to post pics..
I have a full enclosure from the company out of Lewiston, Idaho which I removed to have the frame powdercoated a different color to match the canvas I had done for it.. should be pretty sharp

So you can get this one from oreillys for $35?
So is the correct part number 6086 or 6088?
Will this work for my 90 & my 99 DS gas models?
What if you remove the limiter, do you have to go with the tiny tach then?
Im being a dum dum right now if these questions have been answered....
I have the commercial tiny tach 2 and it works great but I want the analog style one for my carts for now.
