Club Car - electric motor performance question
I've got a club car 1987 and for the most part it is adequate for my needs. It's 36V, and I just replaced the batteries, so duration of run time is very good now. I did clean all the connections well when doing the battery replacement. However, I was wondering if there is something I can do to increase my speed on the flat or going uphill? I guess what I'm really asking is if older electric motors get "tired" and what, if anything, can be done practically ($$$) to reinvigorate them? Thanks for any help. Steve
PS. The cart flies going downhill as it "free wheels". |

Re: Club Car - electric motor performance question
TH, send your motor into PQ, I had a 36V CC with a V-glide, they rewound the motor and it ran much better then it did, it is cheaper then buying controller etc for the speed that you are looking for. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.

Re: Club Car - electric motor performance question
Although I sent PQ an email, the only response I got back was "we can upgrade your motor for $225". No other info provided, no details, no performance upgrade specifics, no mention of reworking my motor or selling me a new or upgraded one and needing mine in exchange. Pretty much left me in the dark.
I emailed back requesting details, but have received no further response and now several days have passed. It could be that since I am on west coast (NORCAL) that they do not realistically expect me to do business across the country, and maybe this would be correct? Is there an electric motor shop like PQ only located in west part of US? Thanks for help. Steve |

Re: Club Car - electric motor performance question
It pretty much states in their site that a 20% increase in torque and speed for the "bandit", what else do you need to know?
I would guess if you are serious about it, then pick up the phone. |

Re: Club Car - electric motor performance question
Don't mess around with your $$$. PQ was the best thing i did for my cart. I have an 89 36v. Look in the forums, do a search for PQ and you'll find too many responses to read and I would be surprised if there was a bad review or experience with them. I did the Bandit. Somewhere on this forum I posted the results in great detail, they far exceeded what PQ even estimated the upgrade would do.
