Slow Cart....I must be missing something
Well, I've had alot of trouble since my AllTrax install many months ago...but now the cart runs after finding out the throttle setting from the factory wasn't ITS and that's what I needed. DOH! Cart runs now...but its slow....slower than it was before the Alltrax install and slower than it seemed to be when...at one time....I turned the HPD off and the cart would lurch forward. I talked to the Alltrax tech....great guy by the way....and he walked me through making sure the setting were right for my cart and we set it up to 100% output, max speed and linear throttle curve. He also had me adjust the throttle tube so the nut actually goes inside of the horseshoe. I know thats not the right terms.
So, its still slow and when I hold down full throttle I don't get the amber light that Alltrax said I should get when the controller reaches full throttle. What else could I be missing? Batteries are at 37.1V after sitting 24 hours after full charge. I'm only at like 60%, but.....should it make it that slow? I'd say based on my other cart, I'm about 13 mph. I beleive I was closer to 20mph before. |

Re: Slow Cart....I must be missing something
Try running the cart in diagnostic mode with the Alltrax software?
Try the ITS Diagnosis from Ezgo ... below |

Re: Slow Cart....I must be missing something
Thanks Scotty. I'll test the ITS tonight. I don't remember there being a diagnostic mode for the Alltrax, but I'll look it up.

Re: Slow Cart....I must be missing something
Low voltage after a full charge is indicating that the pack is no longer up to full capacity... I have a cart here in the shop that shows 37.6 or 85% voltage 12 hours after a charge.... so you would think ~ not too bad ... But the draw down test shows just 41 minutes of run time... or 40% capacity of amperage. That is what will hurt you. So while you see only voltage drop with the voltmeter actual storage capacity is diminished in these old batteries too.
This cart is getting new batteries. |

Re: Slow Cart....I must be missing something
If the problem is actually batteries, then I'm stoked. I have another cart for the family to cruise around in until this cart is finished, so I'll drop batteries in it before next camping season...since I still have a dash full of accessories to wire up and install. Bbut I feel like something is holding the cart back and I hate to not be getting full potential out of it.

Are you sure you are getting full throttle response? I am not familiar with ITS but know that pb-6s must have full ohm range(0-5k, 5k-0) to work correctly. If your controller is not fed the right info, it can't react. Good luck.

Re: Slow Cart....I must be missing something
that's my thought's. I don't think the controller is being fed the right info....so it's not outputting the full throttle. The best indication to me is the lack of the amber light at full throttle. Hopefully the ITS diagnostic sheet Scotty supplied will help me discover any problems.

Re: Slow Cart....I must be missing something
IT WAS BATTERIES!!!!
The problem turned out to be the batteries. A good friend I'm helping with a cart restore picked up some new US Batteries. . Man...what a friend...he's letting me break them in so I could test out my cart, since his cart is still in peices. Got em in and charged em up......21 mph according to the Garmen. It smoked my other cart (13/14 mph). So I dought there are any other issues. Can't wait to see what the cart does later in the break in process. Time to move on to the touch up items from the restore and get all of the accessories installed. Thanks for your help Scotty. |
