Default Compression?

1996 EZGO TXT. What should the compression be? This is a two cylinder and I checked both cold and hot as I could not find an answer on how to check. Cold was 90/100. Hot was 118/120. The hot test is pretty close to my blood pressure most days . Am I looking at any motor work needed in the near future or is this OK?

The manual calls for 165 - 145 with 125 being the low end of serviceable.

I believe that most compression checks are with a cold motor...at least with old GM V8's! Usually low compression that is the same between cylinders is a sign of ring/piston/cylinder wear and means that you are soon going to do a rebuild. Probably not what anyone wants to hear, but it is not a death sentence. My old man ran a '74 chevy truck to over 300,000 on the stock motor. It took a quart of oil every 1,000 miles and when my younger brother took it to the school shop class it had 80psi average on all cylinders! It even ran with 50% diesel fuel in it when "someone" accidentally used the wrong pump!! Smoked like hell but ran forever!!! Man, that is some memory!!

Make sure your full throttle! step on the gas pedal and make sure that the throttle IS at full on carb. Do the comp. test at FULL throttle. If low check the intake valve adjustment, they get tight often! If its not smoking It may not be the rings

Check the breather also... If you have oil in the breather box it means one of two things. You have to much oil in the case or you have blowby at the piston rings

Ok, I read the manual as I missed a few things when doing the compression test. First I adjusted the valves to .004 cold. They were at .001, .001, .005, & .007. That may have been part of the problem. As per the manual I also removed the drive belt and air filter. Choke open and full throttle until the gauge stops moving. So now I am at close to 170 psi on each cylinder. Aint that high for an older cart? I just feel like sumpin aint right. What am I missing?

maybe compression "testers can very" On my tester the max I have seen is 150.
Hey if it runs great and starts without having to hold the choke for long and it dosnt smoke, then just drive they hell out of it and enjoy it. Right? Maybe its a 350cc with a 295cc head, that would increase the compression. Ive never checked one set up like that though.
