Default My converter install (lets answer some questions)

I hope this helps somebody because, all I have had is heartache with mine, and when I say that I mean using it with the existing factory wire harness. I hope this thread will get us all the right answers we need from those that have a better knowledge of this stuff than me. I don't know how many threads I have read with everyone having the same questions and the same trouble. see attachment and lets get the last couple of pages answered for a better way to hook up power to the lights from a converter. Thanks to everyone on this site to even get me this far.

Thank you for taking the time to do this! I'm sure it will help many. I have one question: Do you have a dash mounted meter and is running off the OEM wires that are in the dash? That is the only problem I'm having. Those OEM wires are showing 12 volts, instead of 48 since the converter was installed. If you don't have a meter installed, would you please check and confirm your voltage there. Thanks, Steve

On the right side, changing connection in battery pack, relocating red wire to blue wire spade connector . . .

I kept the blue wire attached to B+ of battery #4 to provide a constant 12v for radio memory. I ran a separate 10ga cables from B+ of battery #1 and B- of battery #4 to supply 48v to the converter input. My converter has a trigger wire that internally turns it on and I tied that in to the switched side of the key switch. For the light kit I cut the wire from the molex in the dash that was being fed by the blue wire coming from battery #4 and supplied 12v to it from the converter. Ground is ground, every ground in the system should be coming from the B- of battery #4.

Doh I still need to know if anyone is using a dash mounted meter from the OEM wires in the dash, with lights and a converter installed.
