94 club car resistor cart

ok i got a 94 36 volt resistor cart ,it would not go so i jumped the solenoid and it went so i got a new solenoid still no go ,goes if you jump solenoid ,checked volts on 2 small posts of solenoid with pedal down no volts ,could it be a broken wire from ignition switch thanks battery pack at 38.8 when charging volt meter reads 90.2 volts wow thats mad volts i think ?

The solenoid activation circuit has failed.
Jumping the large terminals on the solenoid only bypasses the solenoid switch... it doesn't tell you if the solenoid is working or not, that's a commonly spread misconception.
Read below how a solenoid works and start checking your activation circuit, at the F&R MS and in the V-glide is another MS.


A quick overview of the solenoid is :
The solenoid is a HD on/off switch or Contactor
the connection is made /broken between the 2 large terminals. The 2 small terminals are the activation circuit. typically one terminal will have a constant negative connection to the pack. When Positive power is applied to the second small terminal the contact is drawn up against the spring to make contact. When power from either side of the activation circuit is removed then contact is released and the spring pushes it away interrupting the circuit ...It doesn't matter which small terminal is neg or pos on the activation circuit so long as you have one of each....I hope this helps

where does the positive power to the solenoid come from

change the microswitch in the V-glide it activates the solenoid........just doublecheck theres no broken wires and lastly its also possible to get a new but bad solenoid........i would start with the microswitch..........................

The batteries
IF the negative is constant then the positive is coming thru the v-glide and F&R Micro Switch (MS) and the key from the Hot side of the solenoid main cable to the battery pack.
You need a multimeter to trace this out without shotgunning a lot of little parts at the cart.
