Default Chatter when speed passes torque of motor …

1998 CC DS 48V / stock motor new batteries
Pulls strong up hills…
When you out run motor chatter sound in rear end / motor…
Checked brakes all looks good…..
What could get loose, zero grinding, more like a chatter….

I do not have a digital volt meter hard wired...yet...Are you thing there is a fluxion in volt at high speeds?....Should the motor keep climbing in RMP/faster speeds…Top is around 17mph…
After winding out the motor (say 20minutes @ top speed) will also make funny clicking / chatter noise in reverse (low speeds .5 to 1 mpg).......thanks

sounds like the motor bushing in the end of the armature may be bad. it is a small round brown teflon like bushing. usually....gotta chip them out with a screwdriver or a hammer and small chisel. remove snap ring first though. and when i install a new one.....i usually glue them in and let them sit a day before running the motor. dont have to, but it sets up good.

I'm more of a gear head and that sounds closer to what the chatter is coming from...
Will pull apart this weekend and look into.....
How long can you run a motor and gear until it starts to cut teeth.?..
thanks

i wish i could help you hear but the only thing that comes to mind is the motor centering kit......they had some issues with noise like that but it was later year carts so they came out with this kit to fix the problem.......is this whats wrong with yours ????? no idea....as for how long motor lasts without these issues..............there are carts out there in 36 volt that are 30 years old with no motor issues and 48 volt carts there are plenty 95,s the 1st year for 48 volt that have never had a motor issue...................david may know something about this hopefully he,ll read this and post........................

Shadowman is right. You'll need a motor centering kit. It comes with a spring and a couple of rubber insulators. Tacomaman is also on the right track, however his scenario refers to an older car. The 1998 should have a solid steel shaft on the motor without a nylon guide ring.
