Stripped Motor studs
Got a big problem now. I was in the process of replacing the stock cables on my 95 medalist with some bigger 2ga ones. When I was trying to remove the old cables from the motor, which were rusted pretty bad, I spun one of the studs. Heard it click on the inside and now it just spins freely. Is there any easy fix for this without taking the motor apart from the diff?

Re: Stripped Motor studs
No. Take the motor off and see what broke, you might be able to solder the connection back on.
Always use 2 wrenches on the motor studs. the bottom nut keeps the stud from spinning. |

Re: Stripped Motor studs
If it cannot be soldered back on what are my options? I was just looking at the bandit motors from plum quick. Seems like a good price for the upgrade.

Any electric motor shop can fix it.

Re: Stripped Motor studs
Called a local electric motor company and they said the last one like that they fixed cost $400 to do. I was thinking more like $50. Looks like I'll be getting that plum quick bandit.

Re: Stripped Motor studs
I for some reason just noticed that plum quick motors only advertised for club cars. Guess I was just hoping instead of reading. Any other aftermarket motor to go with. Cart is stock 36v now but in the process of 48V and motor swap for a hunting cart. Looking for pure torque and pulling power. 12mph is fine. speed is no consern.

(Actually, golf cart manufacturers more or less use off the shelf motors and Plum Quick does their magic on motors made by several motor manufactures, so they have motors for just about all carts) |
