Default Hard Steering ?

New to the elec CC page, I have a old flathead CC, My friend has a elec CC, SN A-9843. Anyway, steering started getting hard to turn and binding in spots, I greased it for him and it improved some but it still needs help. Is this common with a easy fix ? Thanks in advance for any info.

Bear with me, would the rack and pinion problem be taken care of if I changed all the parts with with one of those front end rebuild kits that most vendors sell ?
Thanks again.

If greasing helped,I would tear-down the spindles and see how the king-pins look.If they are rusty, they won't pivot properly, even with grease. You can also unhook the tie-rods from the spindles and steer it,see how the steering feels then. That would narrow down a rack-issue,and you can also swing each spindle and see if they are bound-up.Hope this helps.

Thank you all, that sounds like a good way to narrow it down. I hate chasing the wrong stuff with new parts.
