91' Yamaha G9 - Did my clutch go out?
Hi guys,
My G9 is making a grinding noise when I depress the pedal. The clutch is not grabbing. I took a quick video. My G9 Problem I recently took it to a music festival and it ate up some serious MUDD! but I also believe someone took it out without my knowledge and broke it. Any advice you can give me would be most appreciated! |

Can I give this a bump? My golf cart shop here in my town closed down and it seems my only option is to work on it myself.

Is the motor even starting up? Hard to tell from the video.
Have you pulled the cover off the outside of the clutch to see if anything is broken in there? That's where I would start. I'm sure somebody better qualified than myself will be along to offer a helping hand but in the meantime here's an extra bump for you. |

Re: 91' Yamaha G9 - Did my clutch go out?
If you pull the cover off from the outside of the clutch you'll find the weights in there that are supposed to move in and out at various rpms. It's really a pretty simple mechanism and if you pull the cover and maybe take some pictures of what you find it might help somebody to tell you if things look right. Hope it helps.

To me it didn't look like the engine started. It looks like you might want to check your battery. It sure didn't look like a clutch problem. Ck battery voltage and all connections.

I got the engine to start and I drove it across the street. I recently just bought a new battery for it, but still nothing.
Do you think the starter is broken? weird grinding noise when i depress the pedal. (sometimes if i barely press it, it wants to kick over) |

I'm going to guess starter brushes are worn. But check all electrical connections. And follow the sticky, "So your yami won't turn over" above.
