2002 G16 is slow and won't rev up
I just bought myself a G16 from the local golf course. The cart was a cart that didnt get used all that much. The cart is very slow and the engine doesn't rev up very high. It actually slows down to a crawl going down hills. I've tried choking it when driving but the choke doesn't do anything at all. It starts right up like normal but it just won't rev out. Any thoughts?

Sounds like throttle cable from carb to governor is streched or out of adjustment. With key off, seat up,look at tbe carb, press throttle and see if it is opening up all tbe way (1/4 turn of throttle arm).

sounds good I'll try that. How do you get the air cleaner assembly off? I can see the 2 bolts at the rear to remove but not sure about at the front.

Is there clips on the air cleaner top cover?

Re: 2002 G16 is slow and won't rev up
I tightened the govenor nut (about 3/4 down)and throttle cable and got the cart to increase in speed quite a bit, but when driving full speed and letting off the gas then getting back into it, it is very slow at reving back up and accelerating....drive belt is very loose, not sure how tight it should be or if that would even cause it. any thoughts?
Thanks |

Check for broken motor mounts, if it has motor mounts. Then start searching for clutch maintenance.

Re: 2002 G16 is slow and won't rev up
I use the rear clutch as a guide on belt wear. In gear, push the cart 2 feet to make sure the clutch didnt get parked with the belt "in the hole". if the belt is sitting more than about 3/8" down inside the pulley, plan on replacing the belt. This is assuming the clutch is in stock configuration.
