Default Best way to pull engine on G16?

I know I have read an answer to this somewhere on this site but cant find it. Is it possible to jack up rear end and pull out rear axle and wheels with engine in place on that section of frame? Or strip engine in place and remove thru hole? This is gonna be interesting, hoping to get this project done by Oct 1 bow season, thanks for your time

Both are doable, just depends on what you need to accomplish. I wouldn't pull the swing arm if all you are doing is motor work. Motor is about 60 pounds, just reach in and lift it out.

Yep,Plenty of room to strip the extras off,and pull it.Dad pulled his mostly complete(exh.,starter,air-box,etc..)still attached. If you have an issue causing limited lifting, and no one is around.Lay a pipe across a few roof trusses and use a come-along or small chain-fall to lift it.I did that when I was setting up my Opposed(125lbs.)I needed to keep changing positioning to set it up,and this was the easiest way.Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, that's the way I'll go. I'll post some pics of progress for other guys in my position. I'm sure I'll have more questions also.

What we do...remove muffler/remove air box assy/remove accelerator cable #2 at carb/remove choke cable nut and place carb on fuel tank/ remove starter/generator adjustment nut and 2 -17mm mount bolts and place starter on top of transaxle/ remove the 4-14mm nuts on motor mounts/disconect the ignition wire harness lead at the front of the engine and pull it out and set it on the work bench. If your going to tear the engine apart, you will need a primary clutch puller tool. Good luck
