Default Tow/Run switch

I know this will sound like a dumb question but exactly what does the tow/run switch do?

Thanks

The only dumb questions are the ones not asked.

The full name of the switch is Run/Tow/Maintenance and it removes electrical power to the Logic and Auxiliary power supplies inside the controller.

The Run part is self explanatory.

When a cart with a SepEx drive system is moved without the pedal being pushed, the controller will try to keep it from moving by applying max regenerative braking. If the cart is towed very far or very fast when the Run/Tow switch is in the Run position, the motor and controller can and will be burnt out.

The controller is essentially a computer and most of us know not to plug or unplug wires or boards in a computer while it is on, so flip the Run/Tow Switch to Tow (Maintenance) whenever you plug or unplug anything electrical on the cart for the same reason.

As usual, JohnnieB is spot on. After blowing my controller 1 week after I got my buggie, I make it a practice to flip the switch to tow everytime I lift the seat. Sometimes I forget to put it back into run after maintenance, but that's a much smaller headache than blowing the controller...
