If I bypass the relay should it run a regular charging cycle

Not really because it would not shut off but if it made it past an hour that might tell you something..

It has been going for longer then before. So I'm assuming that's the problem

You want to repair or replace the charger, but with the relay bypassed, let it run until the on-charge voltage is at least 45Vm with a max of about 48V.

With new batteries that have never been fully charged yet, it may take upward of 20 hours to get a full charge.

If the on-charge voltage never climbs to 45V with the relay bypassed, there's an issue with the Diodes, Capacitor or Transformer.

The control board does three things:
1. Turns charger On, if the battery pack voltage is above about 30V
2. Shuts charge Off when the on-charge voltage climbs into the 44V to 46V range.
3. Shuts charger Off if the on-charge voltage fails to climb into the 44V to 46V range within 16 hours. (Backup safety timer)

Sounds like the backup safety timer is timing out too quickly, but the whole board has to be replaced.

Ok I put a new board and capacitor in the charger it is still doing the same thing only running for about an hour. I borrowed another charger and it worked fine

This is a quote from JohnnieB in 2014 regarding changing the DPI voltage:

"I had a 36V DPI charger when I was running a 36V battery pack and took the cover off to figure out what made it tick.

Not counting the case, chassis, ammeter, power cord and DC output cable, there are only two parts. Those being a transformer and a PCB assembly.

The transformer is an ordinary step-down transformer that reduces the AC line voltage to the voltage the PCB assembly needs, at the amperage needed.

Everything else is on the PCB assembly. CPU, SCR's, fuses, mode selector pins and all the rest of the electronics.

When I decided to upgrade to 42V, I called DPI and asked if my 36V charger could be upgraded to 42V by changing the Control Board (PCB Assembly) and was told the transform used in the 36V charger couldn't supply the volts needed at the amps needed for a 42V Control Board, however the 42V and the 48V chargers used the same transformer.

I haven't heard of anybody doing it, but from what I understand, a 42V DPI can be upped to a 48V just by changing the Control board, which lists for $133.95 on the DPI web-site. https://dpipower.com/store/replaceme...ement-pcb.html"
